Netflix Has A Lot Of Projects Planned With David Fincher
Netflix Film chief Scott Stuber spoke with Collider during the grand reopening of the American Cinematheque at The Egyptian Theatre Hollywood and revealed the company is very much open to working with David Fincher again. He stated:
“Of course. Yeah, I mean, we have a lot in development with him. He’s a Netflix treasure in a lot of ways. I mean, he really amplified the company, brought it to life, was one of the first artists, if not the first, to really say, “I’m willing to make my stories here.” So he’s someone we have a lot of film and television that are really interesting in both places.”
Fincher’s natural talent for telling stories is what made his projects with Netflix very successful, and as someone who aspires for greatness and delivers exemplary outputs, the studio professed they are always willing to do business with him. Stuber further added:
“He’s one of the best people at both mediums in our whole business, right? So, whatever he wants to do in either of those, we are excited. He’s just so talented. He is so thorough, so precise. He’s really great. What I love about him is I love how he wants to make everyone better. He wants to aspire for greatness, and that’s always someone you admire and want to be in business with.”
With a great business relationship, fans can be assured that there’s more to come from Fincher and Netflix in the near future.
David Fincher Professed His Love Working With Netflix
David Fincher also spoke highly of Netflix in his interview with Le Monde via The Playlist. The filmmaker believes the streaming platform is the future of cinema. The director also insinuated that evolution in the industry is going to happen, whether people like it or not. He said:
“Netflix has by far the best “quality control” in all of Hollywood. You know, we will not save cinema as a culture by restricting home distribution systems. For this to happen, the cinema would have to become a cutting-edge place. I loved certain theaters, but the technical conditions there were deplorable. We must move past all this nostalgia to finally ask ourselves the right question: who offers optimal representation today?”
Many of Fincher’s projects were left unmade due to his high budget demands. Still, he makes quality movies and shows that are made accessible to everyone by Netflix.
