The Witcher: Blood Origin has not had an easy ride ever since it got released on Netflix. The backlash and criticism it has faced have led to the show’s rating dipping fast. Ever since Henry Cavill left The Witcher as Geralt of Rivia, the franchise has been dealing with immense backlash and perhaps even a dodgy future.

The spin-off series was supposed to be a palette cleanser, showcasing how the franchise could work without Cavill’s involvement. This did not seem to go smoothly for the series as it has been getting negative reviews left and right. Whether or not the new show connects to Geralt and Ciri, it only complicates things for both the series, as now it is being said that the show starring Michelle Yeoh used an artist’s work without their permission.

The Witcher: Blood Origin Used Stolen Artwork

Recently it has come to light that The Witcher: Blood Origin has taken artwork and used it as background props in a scene without any permission from the artist. A certain scene in the series sees a couple of drawings of monsters in the back. These drawings have been made by Shawn Coss. He took to Twitter to reveal what had happened.

The illustrations that the show took

He explained how the show had used his art style and his very own sketches to show illustrations of monsters. He even showed a side-by-side comparison of the drawings, proving how the spin-off series might face more problems than it already is. This also makes it an issue for Netflix because much like the team of The Witcher: Blood Origin, Netflix too becomes answerable to authorities for stealing art. Coss even stated how this wasn’t the first time something like this happened to him, with Juice World’s team hiring him and then ghosting him after rendering his artwork.

Henry Cavill’s Exit Making It Impossible For The Franchise To Rise

A major issue that The Witcher faced was Henry Cavill‘s exit from the franchise. It was then announced that he would be replaced by Liam Hemsworth as the lead. Fans were far from happy to learn about this, and both the series and its writers had been dealing with a lot of criticism regardless of the showrunner’s assurance.

The Witcher: Blood Origin had a lot of hype and has also been said to be the saving grace of the franchise. However, the case turned out to be the exact opposite. Critics had a field day with the show and the backlash it received was far from ideal.

The Witcher: Blood Origin is now streaming on Netflix.
