Jensen Ackles is best known for his lead role as one half of the ghost-chasing brother team, Dean Winchester in the hit series Supernatural. The show made Ackles a household name and cemented his place as a hugely popular star not just for his good looks, but also for his solid performance. Along with his co-star Jared Padalecki, Ackles was part of a staggering 15 seasons of the show.

The actor’s presence in Supernatural paved the way for bigger projects like his gig in Amazon Prime’s The Boys, in which he played the striking antagonist Soldier Boy. There were also speculations about Ackles being considered for the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in The Brave and the Bold but the actor did not confirm or deny the claims. Now, new rumors cropping up indicate that the star may jump ship to Marvel to play the character of Nova. But is there any truth to this?

Will Jensen Ackles Take Up Marvel’s Nova?

Hollywood star Jensen Ackles is already acquainted with playing a superhero, not just by playing Soldier Boy in The Boys, but also as Batman in Batman: Under the Red Hood as well as both parts of Batman: The Long Halloween. In The Boys, his character from World War 2 who is known to possess superhuman abilities, also has complex layers that Ackles was able to successfully portray. The actor was also rumored to have been offered the role of Batman for the upcoming The Brave and the Bold, but when asked, cleverly sidestepped the questions with a non-committal answer.

“Uh, I don’t know. Even if I knew, I wouldn’t tell you. I mean, could I do it? Sure. Would I want to do it? Yes.”

The latest speculation that is making the rounds is that Jensen Ackles is looking to jump ship to Marvel and is being considered for the character of Nova in the MCU. But as quickly as this information spread like wildfire, it was brought down by an inside source who stated that the rumor was false. Nevertheless, netizens and fans of Ackles had their own opinions about the same.

While Marvel’s Nova looks to be out of reach for Jensen Ackles, time will tell if the actor may be roped in to play Bruce Wayne aka Batman as per a few fans’ wishes.

Marvel Or DC? Jensen Ackles Talks Favorites

While Jensen Ackles is already a DC star with his role in DC’s Animated Universe, the actor’s name has been doing the rounds among Marvel circles as well for a while. Ackles for his part, has been open about his love for both franchises even before he got the gig of Soldier Boy in The Boys. In an earlier interview, the star was asked about his favorite franchise to which he replied that he was a fan of both from his childhood and hoped to be part of any narrative involving the two studios.

“Hey, who do I need to give my phone number to? I love that space, genre TV and movies. I grew up watching them. Marvel or DC… whoever says, ‘Hey, we want you to put the outfit on,’ I would be more than happy to. I enjoy it.”

For now, Ackles is set to reprise his role in Season 4 of The Boys. With James Gunn completely changing up the aesthetic of DC studios, it remains to be seen if the Supernatural star could find a place in the changing phase of the franchise.
