The recently appointed co-heads of the DC Studios took the world by storm when James Gunn revealed that he and Peter Safran have a whole new slate ready for the future of DCU. While they were over the moon about it, they couldn’t share much detail, except that a younger Superman is in, and Henry Cavill is out. Now, Justice League seems to be in danger of a similar fate.

After the news of Henry Cavill taking his leave from the studios reached the fans, to say they were disappointed would be an understatement. Fans were wondering if that meant the rest of the OG superheroes, including Batman and Wonder Woman, would be getting recast as well. Now, according to a new report, it looks like this might be becoming a reality and fans already have their picks.

Saying his farewell to the role of Superman once again, Henry Cavill sent a series of shockwaves through the fans of the actor who were desperately hoping for a Man of Steel sequel. Cavill no longer donning the red cape meant that James Gunn and Peter Safran’s plan for the future included uncertainties about the future of other DCU actors, including Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ben Affleck as Batman, and so on. Fans were speculating if the bunch was getting recast, just like Cavill.

Now, according to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, the entire Justice League is getting recast. If the report has any truth to it, the actors behind the characters have had meetings with Gunn and Safran about how they can contribute to the DCU further. This means that while it is possible the actors won’t be returning as their superhero personas, they could be seen in the DCU in some other form.

Fans of the superhero universe know precisely what they want if the report is true. They took to Twitter to express their desire of seeing a DC Animated Universe Justice League Lineup which includes Martian Manhunter and Hawkgirl along with the others, plus the reprisal of Green Lantern. Apart from these superheroes, fans also want Aquaman and Atom added to the list.

According to THR’s report, not only have the actors had a meeting with Gunn and Safran about their future DCU fates, Jason Momoa and Affleck are especially keen on helping the two in carrying out their plan. While Affleck’s help comes in the form of directing DCU projects, the reason behind Momoa’s interest isn’t known. Maybe he is playing Lobo?

Even if the entire Justice League gets a fresh face and the current actors’ fates are hazy, one person is most likely to return to the DCU, Affleck. However, the return isn’t what you would think it to be. The Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice actor is looking for a DCU project to direct and Gunn just might be all for it. Along with announcing Cavill’s farewell, Gunn tweeted that he had met with Affleck a day before where the actor stated that he wants to direct a project and they are just looking for the right project for him.

Affleck has previously directed movies like The Town and Gone Baby Gone and apparently, he joined Dawn of Justice to learn how to direct large-scale, big-budget films. Looks like Affleck is finally going to get his hands on one!
