The race for Superman: Legacy’s lead role is just beginning and the top contender for the same happens to be none other than Nicholas Hoult. James Gunn can finally give his full focus to the upcoming movie, seeing that he had made it very clear that he would only focus on one project at a time. Seeing just how much Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is being loved by fans, there is a sudden uproar of hope amongst the public.
The movie can now see its own progress, with the casting starting and Gunn working on his part of the film as well. Fans have already begun speculating who would play the three main characters, namely Clark Kent, Lois Lane, and Lex Luthor.
Nicholas Hoult To Possibly Play Superman
James Gunn said it himself, that before anything else, his ongoing projects would be his priority. Going one project at a time does seem ideal considering that this would allow him to give his all to every film that comes his way. Now that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a massive hit and the director has no left ties with the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it is only ideal that his focus shifts to Superman: Legacy. The movie will jumpstart the DC Universe post Gunn’s takeover as the co-CEO.
Much like any other large-scale project, there is an entire race for who will play the key roles. From Superman and Lois to Lex Luthor, out of the many actors and actresses auditioning, only three will triumph. Nicholas Hoult is an actor who had previously tried becoming a part of the DCU when he auditioned for the lead role in The Batman. However, that was a role Robert Pattinson basically swooped away. Now, Hoult is returning once again, and this time for the role of Superman. Out of the many rumored actors like Jacob Elordi, David Corenswet, and Andrew Richardson; Hoult’s name seems to be on the top.
James Gunn Confirms No Main Character Has Been Cast Yet
James Gunn is not one to let rumors fly around for long. He would often go out of his way to confirm or deny the gossip that may be circulating like wildfire. He took to Twitter to respond to the various speculations about who could be playing the Kryptonian hero. From Emma Mackie playing Lois Lane to Gunn actually wanting to work with actors who he has done so in the past, it is all in time that things will become concrete.
“For now, only one person has been cast in Superman: Legacy, and it isn’t any of the regular players in the Superman world.”
Gunn further confirmed early on, that there would be at least one actor for the lead team of the Guardians of the Galaxy to be part of Superman: Legacy. However, up till now, only one cast member has been decided for sure and that is not any of the lead or significant characters. He stated more so that when it comes to auditioning rumors, it is only the actors who can say something and not him.
Superman: Legacy is said to be released in theatres on 11th July 2025.
