Nostalgia plays a big role in attracting users to a new but familiar experience. With this, fans who loved Pokémon in the 1990s can now relive their childhood obsession and watch their favorite anime featuring Tom Holland.
For quite some time, rumors have circulated about a live-action Pokémon movie arriving in 2025. Now, a YouTube trailer has generated excitement, especially since it features the Marvel star.
Known for portraying the speedy and agile Spider-Man, Holland takes on the role of Ash Ketchum, teaming up with Pikachu in a viral fan-made trailer for a Netflix Pokémon movie.
Marvel Star Tom Holland Teams Up with Pikachu in a New Fan-Made Trailer
The rumors originated from Small-Screen in 2020, as the site sourced We Got This Covered’s reporting. They suggest Tom Holland might play Blue Oak, Professor Oak’s grandson, in a potential new Pokémon film.
The news further hinted that the film is a spin-off, existing in the same world as the 2019 movie Detective Pikachu. However, the rumors sparked again when a trailer featuring Holland went viral. But fans need to calm down because these rumors are not true, as the trailer was made by a fan.
The trailer posted by a YouTube channel named Darth Trailer combines scenes from Detective Pikachu with clips from other movies featuring The Devil All The Time star. Anyways, the 26-year-old actor fits well into the trailer.
The trailer featuring Holland, however, raises another question: will he play a role in any of the upcoming Pokémon movies? To make it clear, there is no sign of him featuring in Pokémon flicks as of now.
Fans Will Get to See More of Pokémon in the Future
Pokémon fans have a reason to rejoice again as Pokémon Horizons: The Series is set to premiere in February 2024 on Netflix. This Pokémon series marks the first season without the well-known characters Ash Ketchum and Pikachu, iconic figures in the franchise.
On top of that, Netflix is developing its own animated Pokémon show called Pokémon Concierge. The series will showcase the franchise’s ceremonial monsters enjoying a relaxing time in a resort-like setting.
So, while Tom Holland may not be currently linked to the franchise, the Pocket Monsters are expected to stay for a long time.
