As the Star Wars celebration day, 7 April comes near, rumors about the next big screen appearance have begun to swell. The franchise has its roots in all forms of audio-visual, be it animated series like Clone Wars, OTT has released an array of successful shows like Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Mandalorian, etc.
Lucasfilm has been missing from the theatres for about five-odd years, the last time Star Wars made an appearance on the silver screen was with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker which made a Box-Office collection of 503 Million Dollars but did not receive pleasant reviews from the critics.
Taika Waititi might star in his own Star Wars film
Kevin Feige’s MCU responsibilities will keep him busy for almost the next decade, it also keeps him far away from developing the Star Wars film for Lucasfilm. This has opened up a slot for the talented and masterful storyteller, the director of JoJo Rabbit, Taika Waititi.
Variety states that the Ragnarok director is working on a Star Wars film and there is a huge possibility that he will star or make a cameo in his film as he did with JoJo Rabbit and Thor Ragnarök. He also directed an episode of Mandalorian and gave his voice to the droid IG-11.
Despite the hate from messing up Thor: Love and Thunder it feels that Waititi will return with another big-budget giant in the theatres. His film Next Goal Wins is set to release on 22 September 2023. The film is based on a Documentary of the same name, both the film and documentary are said to follow the journey of the American Samoa soccer team as they fight people’s perceptions and try to qualify for the 2014 World Cup.
