First introduced in the comics, Sergei Kravinoff AKA Kraven the Hunter is one of the first and deadliest rivals of the web-slinging Spider-Man as well as one of the founding members of the Sinister Six. But despite being one of the most hyped supervillains of all time, Kravinoff hadn’t made his big screen debut before. So, when Sony revealed the news about the upcoming movie Kraven the Hunter being in production, it hoped fans would be excited about how his story would unfold.
However, it seems that the fans are neither too delighted nor surprised, judging from their reaction even after J. C. Chandor revealed how the movie was going to be a tragedy. Here’s why.

When the news of Kraven the Hunter, starring Aaron-Taylor Johnson as the main lead, being in production surfaced, fans were excited to know how his story will be portrayed on the big screen. However, their excitement was almost immediately put to rest as soon as they found out that J. C. Chandor would be directing it.
The reason behind this is that the filmmaker had also directed Jared Leto starrer Marvel’s previous epic flop movie, Morbius (2022). After seeing that and realizing both the movies will be directed by the same person, fans weren’t all too excited about it, even when Chandor revealed that the movie will be a tragedy. He said,
“Sony probably doesn’t want me to lead with this, but the story is a tragedy. When the final credits roll on this film, if you’ve been paying attention, you won’t have the feeling that this is all going to end great.”
While Sony along with the cast and crew are hoping the film won’t face the same fate as Morbius, fans’ criticism of the movie says otherwise.
Fans Aren’t Surprised Even After Kraven the Hunter Is Described As A Tragedy
While some fans are still looking forward to its release, others are simply discouraged to do so. Following the tweet by DiscussingFilm that shared J. C. Chandor’s revelation, several other fans took to Twitter to show their disapproval of the movie.
Here’s what fans have to say:
After Morbius, I don’t trust Sony’s live action Spider-less Marvel films. Venom is the exception, even though Let There Be Carnage could have been SO much better.

I already feel this movie is gonna be a tragedy. Perhaps not in the way that was intended, though.

I think people will get that feeling well before the end credits.

With its fate still unknown, all that fans along with the production company can do are hold on to hope that this movie isn’t the epic disaster that it is already presumed to be.
Marvel’s Kraven The Hunter is set to be released on August 30, 2024.
