The Daniels are on a high after Everything Everywhere All At Once bagged 7 Oscars. Fans now want them to move on to bigger and better things. And it looks like their wish came true because it has been revealed that the directing duo, comprising of Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, have directed the upcoming Star Wars Disney+ show Skeleton Crew. However, it’s interesting that they directed the series before their Oscars sweep.

Additionally, they have now also become part of the galaxy far far away. Skeleton Crew began filming in Los Angeles around September 2022, and wrapped by late January 2023. The Skeleton Crew show stars Jude Law, and as per the official synopsis, it’s about 4 kids who are lost in the galaxy and are trying to get home. This show isn’t the only thing on the Daniels’ radar. The duo also signed a five-year deal with Universal back in August 2022. It’s expected that more will be revealed at the annual Star Wars Celebration, held from April 7-10. Nobody at Lucasfilm should be able to give notes on this. I need 100% The Daniels energy just in the Star Wars universe. https://t.co/bhfhuUAaAr

It is disappointing to constantly see promising creative directors get sucked into the franchise industry, right after winning awards https://t.co/3CjZd3bofr

might be seated…. hoping they get to make their own star wars movie eventually, could work out pretty well if they are given full creative control https://t.co/qKcdT6c1ye

Some fans of the Daniels hope that the directors will keep on making more creative films. Others bashed Disney for hiring these talented filmmakers to work on their franchise. Recently, Lucasfilm and Star Wars have become a meme for hiring talented directors and then not letting them follow through with their vision. However, the Daniels should be fine because they have already filmed their share for Skeleton Crew. It now remains to be seen if they will be brought on board to direct more Star Wars projects.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew will be released sometime in 2023.
