Set to take Agatha on the legendary Witches’ road, the series is expected to bring about the return of Elizabeth Olsen’s character, but also has a range of other aspects fans have every right to be excited about. On its own, Agatha All Along has been revealed to have taken inspiration from a range of iconic horror flicks.

This includes classics such as The Exorcist and Rosemary’s Baby, something one of the show’s star, Joe Locke, himself revealed.

Agatha All Along has direct references to horror classics such as Rosemary’s Baby and The Exorcist

Agatha All Along will take viewers on a unique journey separated from the rest of the MCU. The kind of characters, and the lore related to the witches set to be featured means that the series will not be the mainstream laugh riot that Marvel typically tends to create. Instead, it will feature a range of sinister characters as Agatha forms a covern of witches to take on the trials of the Witches’ road.

Among the range of faces set to feature, Joe Locke takes on the role of an unnamed gay teen rumored to be none other than Billy Kaplan, who eventually becomes Wiccan. Regardless, the actor claimed in a recent interview that the upcoming series has plenty of references of some classic horror flicks: (via GamesRadar)

There are some great Exorcist references in there. Rosemary’s Baby was one of them. There’s so many. Also, The Goonies – that was the one for me. There was one day that Jac sent Kevin a picture of something, and he replied literally saying, ‘Oh my God, it’s The Goonies.’ So, that one for me was the big one.

Hence, fans can expect a range of references, both entrenched in horror and humor, from not just the likes of The Exorcist and Rosemary’s Baby, but also movies such as The Goonies.

Aubrey Plaza also believes Agatha All Along set to feature some bonafide horror

Joe Locke is not the only familiar face set to be seen in Agatha All Along. Kathryn Hahn will be seen alongside Aubrey Plaza, set to be seen as the Warrior Witch Rio Vidal. The talented Parks and Recreation star is undoubtedly the perfect actor to play the role of a young, frustrated witch, with Vidal also a close ally of Harkness in the comics.

Regardless, while on one hand Thunderbolts is set to take the MCU up a notch by delivering a genuinely dark narrative, Plaza claims that Agatha All Along will also do something similar: (via GamesRadar)

The Craft is one that I felt was really tonally coming through. That movie gets hardcore scary, and what’s cool The Craft is one about Agatha is it really rides the line. There are times when it’s really funny and almost has this campy quality, but then there are times that it just gets really dark and grounded and scary.

The overall MCU appears poised to undergo a change in direction. Expected to be gone are the days of comic superheroes who bear the brunt of MCU’s banal tone, such as Thor and Hulk. Instead, Marvel is set to deliver genuinely dark narratives that will not only entertain, but also give a more serious look to the overall franchise.
