Agatha Harkness was first introduced in Elizabeth Olsen starrer WandaVision and took no time to become an instant fan favorite. At first, she was introduced as the lead character’s neighbor Agnes, but the show went on to reveal her as the main villain of the show, Agatha Harkness, a powerful witch.

What is Aubrey Plaza’s role in Agatha: Coven of Chaos?

It is recently announced by Deadline that Aubrey Plaza is being roped by the Kevin Feige fortress in the upcoming Agatha Harkness series. Even though the MCU is silent over her role, some strong sources claim that the Emily the Criminal actress is playing one of the major magic users in Marvel Comics, Morgan le Fay.

Morgan le Fay is also one of the iconic female antagonists in the comics. But very interestingly, this appearance of Morgan le Fay won’t be the first one. The last season of the Hulu Marvel series Runaways also showed the character played by Elizabeth Hurley. This also casts some doubt if Plaza is playing the same role in the series or someone else.

The background of Morgan le Fay suggests that the character is inspired by the character of the same name known for centuries in the Arthurian Legends. She is a half-fairie and half-human born to Princess Igraine of Avalon. The character is often shown in the comics along with her nephew Mordred. Together, the duo has pulled off many villainous tasks. Surprisingly, her appearance in Agatha: Coven of Chaos also sets the Black Knight to return to the frames of the MCU.

Morgan le Fay first appeared in issue 1 of the Black Knight comics. The character is one of the most important nemeses of the original Black Knight, Sir Percy of Scandia. Later on, she also had confrontations with his descendant and another Black Knight, Dane Whitman.

Dane Whitman is also present in the ongoing timeline of the MCU portrayed by the Game of Thrones fame Kit Harington. The character was introduced in the Chloé Zhao directorial Eternals. In the post-credits scene of the movie, Dane Whitman opened a chest containing the iconic Ebony Blade, while the voice of Blade asks him whether he is ready to use it.

If The White Lotus star is really on her way to portraying Morgan le Fay, the Agatha: Coven of Chaos series is very likely to build a connection of her with Dane Whitman’s Black Knight.

Earlier, Elizabeth Olsen claimed that there are no plans for her Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch to return in the Agatha Harkness series. So it is highly unlikely for Olsen to be spotted in the upcoming series. It will now be a wait till 2023 to find out how much of all this actually turns out to be true in the series filled with witchcraft and magic of all sorts.

Agatha: Coven of Chaos will release sometime in winter 2023, while WandaVision and Eternals can be streamed on Disney+.
