Solo Leveling Enters the World of K-Dramas
As per a French newspaper Linternaute, Solo Leveling is not just getting an anime adaptation. The successful webtoon’s announcement about the anime took the world by storm. Watching Sung Jinwoo in action is something the fans have been waiting for. Lucky for them, Kwak Heaeun, the creative director for D&C Webtoon had news that can most certainly make things even better.
“And I can give you a scoop, a Korean drama based on Solo Leveling is currently in the works, so stay tuned.”
According to her, the series would once again be getting an adaptation, this time as a Korean drama. She stated that although there is not much news about the same, it is most definitely in the works. She also stated that the spin-off of the Webtoon, Solo Leveling: Ragnarok will also be available for readers from 2024. The series spin-off focuses on Sung Jinwoo’s son, who is on his own journey to discover his powers, which have been hidden by his father for so long.
The Changing Era of Live-Action Adaptations
Ahead of Solo Leveling’s release in the world of anime, the live-action adaptation also being announced is very much a cherry on top. Live-action adaptations have always been a rather sensitive topic considering how many fans there already are who are anticipating it. There are expectations and there are underlying pressures. However, things have been significantly different when it comes to the same.
From The Last of Us to even the One Piece adaptation, things have been changing. The importance of source material has started to rise and its value is being understood by not just showrunners but also those who star in the movies or series. Seeing the announcement for the Webtoon, it is only fair that the expectations of fans also rise, now to a somewhat higher level since live-action adaptations are not on as big of a failure streak as earlier times had seen.
