Being the daughter of legendary martial artist Dan Inosanto and the godchild of Bruce Lee, Diana Lee Inosanto walked in their footsteps and excelled in the realm of martial arts. Her expertise in it would eventually contribute to the actor’s stint in the Galaxy Far, Far Away, in which she first appeared as Magistrate Morgan Elsbeth in episode 13 of The Mandalorian season 2.

But her appearance in the other Star Wars spin-off, Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson, really put her in the spotlight. However, the actress recently recalled that she had to hide during the show’s filming in order to avoid risking spoilers.

During her appearance at Fan Expo Chicago, Diana Lee Inosanto touched on her experience in Ahsoka. Considering Morgan Elsbeth served as one of the major baddies in the Rosario Dawson-led show, the actress recalled they have to take precautions on set to avoid licking any spoilers. Having to film her scenes on a stage next to Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, a coming-of-age story about four children, Inosanto hid from the Skeleton Crew’s kids so they wouldn’t potentially spoil anything.

Fortunately, her stint in Ahsoka wasn’t the last of Elsbeth in the Galaxy Far, Far Away, as The Sensei star reprised her stint in the anthology series Star Wars: Tales of the Empire. But while this time around, she wasn’t able to exhibit her martial arts skills, she did learn a thing or two from Pedro Pascal in The Mandalorian to voice Elsbeth in the animated series.

While it wasn’t until 2020 that Inosanto finally made her Star Wars debut, her training for the gig started way back when A New Hope first hit the big screens. The Tiger’s Apprentice star recalled after her father took her and his other martial arts students to the screening of the original Star Wars, he wasted no time buying some plastic lightsabers. This eventually morphed into their training sessions, which would come in handy decades later during Inosanto’s face-off with Dawson.

I love the irony that he was training me with these double-staff, plastic lightsabers, and who knew that down the road, I would actually be doing this fight scene with Rosario? Maybe the Force is really out there.

As for Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, which is slated to premiere later this year, for the first time in the franchise, fans will get to witness suburban life in Star Wars.
