However, this time, the competition between One Piece and Naruto fans has taken a completely different shape, as it has now involved the creators Masashi Kishimoto and Eiichiro Oda.
Recently, Kishimoto was being targeted for his controversial comment about a character from Naruto’s sequel spin-off series Boruto. The official translation of the interview is yet to be released, but there are many leaked translations that revealed a controversial statement made by the Naruto mangaka.
According to rumors, Kishimoto was asked about his favorite character design by Ikemoto, and Kishimoto’s alleged answer shocked the entire community. Kishimoto allegedly stated that he liked the character of Sarada in the young woman version, as she is very sexy. He also stated that he could not have drawn her at all.
This alleged comment led to a huge uproar as One Piece fans started targeting Masashi Kishimoto.
They pointed out that Sarada is a minor, and Kishimoto’s liking of the character is in no way justifiable. Thus, it marked the beginning of probably one of the biggest feuds between Naruto and One Piece fans.
But according to recent updates and reports from Naruto fans, Kishimoto’s statement was mistranslated and the original interpretation of his comment was that he found Sarada cool.

One Piece fans targeting Kishimoto for his alleged controversial statement enraged Naruto fans to the point that they started questioning Oda’s friendship with Watsuki. For those who don’t know, in 2017, Watsuki was arrested on charges of possession of child pornography in November, and he pleaded guilty.
This was a shock to many, especially Oda and One Piece fans, as it was already established that Watsuki was Oda’s mentor. Oda himself had accepted the fact in the past, and now it has come to haunt him as Naruto fans are using his past relations with Watsuki to target him.
