While not particularly the highlight of its portfolio, Remedy Entertainment still has a lot going on in Control, a video game that was released back in 2019 and has a lot of subtle details that players deserve to know about. Fortunately, it is seemingly getting the recognition it deserves after 5 years of launch.

One of the many things that makes the game perfect is the lighting mechanics, and the gameplay makes it obvious how the developers have spent a long time fine-tuning every single detail about how it works in the game.

With franchises such as Alan Wake and Max Payne to its name, it essentially becomes difficult for the studio to overcome the expectations held by fans once again. However, it is exactly what it pulls off in Control, bringing to the table not only a hooking plot line but also extremely finessed mechanics polished to perfection.

Appreciating the same, a thread started under a post in r/Gaming states how it was ‘bonkers’. The replies were filled with users going over several different parts of the games that were well-worked and deserved knowing more about.

It was an amazing experience, and the game deserves more credit than it got at the time of its release. It can also be said that the title helped the studio practice some skills that came in handy during the development of another game that was released last year.

Launched in 2023, Alan Wake 2 is another popular title created by the studio, subsequently winning several awards. However, the development of the game did not come without its challenges, with the biggest one being how to provide proper navigation to players in the dark place.

The developers faced the grave task of guiding the player through an environment with no scope for placing clear guiding signs. This is when they resorted to using neon signs in the game, which blended perfectly with the surroundings, being the only thing that subtly stands out in a low-light environment.

Another unique mechanic the developers implemented was giving Alan the ability to manipulate his nearby elements using light. This not only allowed them to easily overcome the challenge but also helped them take advantage of a mechanic they first practiced back in 2019.
