Not everyone gets to call Arnold Schwarzenegger their father-in-law. And not everyone gets mistaken for Chris Evans either. But when the two situations merge, it almost plays out with the comical force of a Jenga tower falling apart. As the 75-year-old now familiarizes himself with the world of comedy, Chris Pratt can only look on from the sidelines as Schwarzenegger goes on to win over the audience with his perfectly-timed jokes.

Arnold Schwarzenegger Confuses Son-in-Law for Chris Evans

Arnold Schwarzenegger aka the Terminator has had a long and bright Hollywood career with roles that have brought equal parts joy as well as rushes of thrill, adventure, and adrenaline with the roles he has portrayed on screen. With films like Twins and True Lies, the Governator has left a memorable and lasting impact on his audience. But as he grows older, his attention turns towards his family as he bonds with his son-in-law, Chris Pratt, over the latter’s recently released MCU film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.

However, this was not always the case between the pair. In 2021, during a charity event organized by Pratt for Greater Good to help the hungry, Arnold Schwarzenegger made quite a memorable entrance:

“Hello, Chris… Evans, oh not Chris Evans, sorry, I’m going to screw up this whole thing right from the beginning, Chris Pratt. I didn’t look at the cue cards the right way. Sorry about that. I should know your name, I should know your name. That’s for sure. You’re my favorite son-in-law!”

Pratt immediately fired back, “I’m your only son-in-law! I better be your favorite. It was later revealed, however, that the entire incident was scripted for the guests’ entertainment and Pratt and Schwarzenegger simply organized the mini sketch to kick off the evening on a lighter and more hopeful note.

Father-in-Law and Son-in-Law Bond Over Pumping Iron

After Chris Pratt’s infamous sneaky glances at Katherine Schwarzenegger eventually led to the pair getting to know each other, falling in love, and wanting to get married, it fell upon the Star-Lord to woo the father of the bride and get his blessing before tying the knot. But it’s never that easy with Arnold Schwarzenegger. The pair chose to spend some hours in the gym – a smart choice on Pratt’s part as pumping iron was “the decision-making factor” for Arnie and the younger actor eventually managed to impress the former Mr. Olympia.

Recently, with the release of his 2023 film, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3, Arnold Schwarzenegger came out in vocal and public support of the actor and claimed, “You crushed it […] I loved it and I’m very, very proud of you.” The film was a cathartic finale to the Guardians trilogy and closed the chapter for most of its cast including Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldaña, and Pom Klementieff.
