Amazon Prime is all set to bring one of Bethesda’s Fallout game series into a show, and fans of the game are clearly excited. Prime Video’s Fallout TV series received its first trailer at CCXP back in December 2023 and it won’t be an exaggeration to say that it brings the game series to life.
The game will premiere on Prime Video on April 11, 2024. Ahead of the release, the makers of the show, executive producer and director Jonathan Nolan, executive producer and co-showrunner Graham Wagner, and series stars Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Walton Goggins, spilled some beans on the making of the series.
Why did the Fallout series stick to the original plot?
During the interaction, the makers were asked about Fallout game creator Tom Howard’s involvement in the process of creating the game. To this Nolan says,
“The very first conversation that I had with Todd was that he had spent years kind of rebuffing offers to adapt these games waiting to try to find someone who sort of got it.”
He further added that Howard had both the confidence and the experience of understanding that if they build a good enough world, people can further create within it. This also helps them connect to the stories that they have told. Thus, Nolan says that right from the beginning the team was clear that they wanted to tell an original story within the Fallout universe.
Nolan further adds,
“And because of the way the games work, where each game is a different city and a different set of characters with a different set of deeper questions it wants to ask and different ways of playing with time and all the delicious speculative fiction, the bits, and pieces that go into each of these stories that, if we did it right, we’d fit right in.”
He further says that’s how they ended up sticking to the original plot of the Fallout game series created by Howard. Nolan also believes that the series is nothing but another entry in the game series and “hopefully” the best way.
