Masashi Kishimoto has written his name among the stars after giving birth to the Naruto franchise. The franchise reached overwhelming popularity overseas when the concept of manga and anime was pretty new to Western countries. Through countless amazing arcs and character developments, Kishimoto became a popular face among anime lovers worldwide.
Even though Naruto ended a few years back, there has not been a dent in its popularity. Masashi Kishimoto’s magnum opus has several interesting characters, with each having a backstory. Among all the characters, there is a particular character that made the legendary mangaka perspire while creating him. The mentioned character is none other than Naruto Uzumaki’s friend cum rival, Sasuke Uchiha.
Masashi Kishimoto Had To Work Harder To Draw Sasuke Uchiha
Naruto Uzumaki is the main protagonist of Masashi Kishimoto’s magnum opus. Even though the anime is named after him, Sasuke Uchiha is an equally important character. They are like the two sides of the same coin. So, in a way, the anime had two main characters. Kishimoto designed them as Yin and Yang. They were dependent on each other, which was pretty clear from the anime. They always wanted to best the other.

But it was not Naruto who created a problem for the mangaka. It was Sasuke who troubled the mangaka since the beginning. Kishimoto had to take special care to draw. Initially, he wanted the character to have several ornamentation and lines but later moved away from the idea since it would become difficult for him to do such details weekly. So, he simplified the designs, yet there was another problem.
He mentioned Sasuke was pretty handsome and mature even though he was not an adult. Throughout the years, he had to maintain the same details of being a handsome guy. If the details were missed even a little, it would change the dynamics of the character. His youthful quality is what made him difficult to draw otherwise he would simply turn up as a grown man.
Masashi Kishimoto Is A Sasuke Uchiha Fan
When Masashi Kishimoto was asked about his favorite characters, he mentioned several names, including Shikamaru Nara and Killer Bee. But out of them, Sasuke Uchiha was the one who stood out. He likes every aspect of Sasuke. He had planned to include him since the beginning. Kishimoto got the idea of Sasuke Uchiha from his one-shot manga, Karakuri. The complex nature of the Indra’s reincarnation is what attracted the legendary mangaka.
According to him, the Shadow Hokage is a pure character. He is pure in the sense that he acts on his own and does what he feels is right. Be it to avenge his clan or to take revenge for his brother, either of them was pure feelings. But he is a self-centered person, which often creates problems for others. So, from others’ perspective, he may be good or bad, but from a neutral viewpoint, he is pure.
Masashi Kishimoto never thought the character that gave him the most trouble would be the character whom he ended up loving. Being a difficult character to draw, also means that the creator spends more time drawing it. Sasuke Uchiha is truly a legendary character and has an equal contribution to making the Naruto franchise one of the greatest anime of all time.
