Video game adaptations have often been considered a bad idea as it is unsure that fans of the game would like the plot on TV series or a film. A majority of the adaptations have been a failure and some of them weren’t very successful, however, this can’t be said for The Last of Us, a recent video game adaptation of the 2013 game of the same name that has been very successful, equally loved by fans and critics.

What Did Amazon Tell About the New Tomb Raider TV series?

Recently, The Hollywood Reporter published an article that confirmed the rumors of the Tomb Raider TV series would be written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who also wrote the 2001 and 2018 film adaptations starring Angelina Jolie and Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft, the protagonist of the film. Phoebe Waller-Bridge who has recently renewed her deal with Amazon; will only be the scriptwriter and executive producer of the TV Series, as she plans not to star in the TV series.

It is indefinite who will be playing the role of Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider TV series, as it is still in the initial stages of development, and hence it would not be released anytime soon. The Tomb Raider TV series would be an important addition to Amazon Studios, as the game is extremely popular, and it would add to Amazon’s collection of video game adaptations along with a God of War series.

Is Phoebe Waller-Bridge A Good Choice As the Tomb Raider’s Writer?

Phoebe Waller-Bridge is an outstanding choice as Tomb Raider’s writer. She has won numerous awards for her BBC series Fleabag which includes three Emmys, two Golden Globes, and a British Academy Television Award. A lot of people in Hollywood and in the entertainment industry consider her a great writer as she can create complex characters whose personalities tend to bloom as the plot of the movie or series develops. Phoebe Waller-Bridge was also the Chief Producer as well as the head writer of the first season of Killing Eve, as well as the writer of No Time to Die.

How did The Last of Us Break the Video Game Adaptation Curse?

The Last of Us series had one of the best openings, and the show not only recreated the iconic scene from the video game but also improved it. Even though the show had some minor changes but that doesn’t mean that the series went in a totally different direction. The audiences were on the edge of their seats, biting their nails in thrill and nervousness, as what surprise the next scene will unfold.

Pedro Pascal, Nico Parker, and Bella Ramsey, the cast of The Last of Us have done excellent work portraying their roles, and the chemistry between Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey is splendid, it gave the same vibe as the video game. The character of Ellie felt more aggressive as compared to the video game but it can be justified as a result of surviving in a post-apocalyptic world. The decisions that were crucial to surviving could be seen in Pedro Pascal’s role of Joel.

In reference to all the minute details present in the game, the writers of the show have done a fantastic job, making HBO’s The Last of Us, one of the most successful and popular video game adaptations, with new episodes coming out every Sunday.
