 It all started when the Washington Post was released with the 37-year-old actress’s statement that turned the 60-year-old actor into a culprit overnight. Depp was almost shunned by Hollywood as he lost many projects after the article came to light.

In 2018 when Amber Heard released the op-ed in which she stated that she was a “public figure representing domestic abuse,” it wasn’t difficult for people to figure out that she was pointing fingers at Johnny DeppThe Cry-Baby actor tied the knot with the actress in the year 2015 and their divorce was finalized in 2017. Right after the Op-ed caught everyone’s eyeball it affected Depp’s professional life. In almost everyone’s eye, the 61-year-old actor was an abuser and no one wanted to work with him. 

The Sleepy Hollow actor sued his ex-wife in the year 2019 and their trial reportedly started on 11 April 2022. The case was being televised and every drama inside the court was being witnessed by the people. Depp’s talent manager during the trial testified in the court that the actor lost his role in the sixth installment of the Pirates of the Caribbean film series. The manager also mentioned that it was a $22.5 million deal and he was rejected by the makers since the op-ed by Heard came out.

After two months of battle with his ex-wife in court, Depp won the defamation trial against Heard on 1 June 2022. The victory of the actor was being celebrated by all his fans all over the world but the Drive Angry actress was constantly trolled on all social media platforms. It’s been over 1 year since the verdict of the trial was announced and both Depp and Heard are back behind the cameras. The Tourist actor made a comeback with the French drama Jeanne du Barry. Depp also received a 7-minute standing ovation at the 2023 Cannes Film Festival.
