Amber Heard Thanks Fans for Overwhelming Love and Support

Heard said (via Variety) that the production house “pared down” her rome and had “taken away” the action scenes that Mera was part of. Unlike the first movie, the sequel barely gave any screentime to the character of Mera, who is now married to Arthur, and is pushed to be a mere background character.

But contrary to Heard, the director of the movie, James Wan, said in an interview with Entertainment Weekly before the release of Aquaman 2, that the movie was never supposed to focus on Arthur and Mera, but on Arthur and his relationship with his half-brother, Orm, played by Patrick Wilson.

“I always pitched this to everyone from the get-go. The first ‘Aquaman’ was Arthur and Mera’s journey. The second movie was always going to be Arthur and Orm. So, the first was a romance action-adventure movie, the second one is a bromance action-adventure movie. We’ll leave it at that.”
