Known for portraying the scotch egg-loving accountant aspiring to become a DJ, Ewen MacIntosh has sadly passed away at the age of 50. The news of his passing was released by his management company, Just Right Management, on Wednesday with a statement saying,
“With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved comedy genius Ewen MacIntosh. His family thank all who supported him, especially Willow Green Care Home. There will be a private cremation for family & close friends soon & a celebratory memorial later in the year”
The cause of his demise has not been revealed. Apart from his most popular role in The Office, MacIntosh graced screens in various British comedies, like Miranda and Little Britain, along with movies like The Confusion of Tongues and The Lobster.

Ricky Gervais Honors His Late Co-Star Ewen Macintosh
Actor-comedian Ricky Gervais took to X (Twitter) to express his grief and honor his co-star Ewen MacIntosh. In his heartfelt acknowledgment of MacIntosh’s impact and the loss felt by those who knew and admired him, Gervais said,
“Extremely sad news. The very funny and very lovely Ewen Macintosh, known to many as ‘Big Keith’ from The Office, has passed away. An absolute original. RIP.”
He also shared a photo of an award figure, saying, “This was for Keith’s appraisal scene.” Along with co-starring in the British sitcom, MacIntosh also made a cameo appearance in Ricky Gervais’s Netflix comedy-drama After Life.
The actress-comedian Miranda Hart, who starred alongside MacIntosh in the TV show Miranda, also took to Instagram to pay homage to the late actor. “We were the same age and crossed paths many times,” she mentioned with an image of MacIntosh.
“We did our best to be funny and make a living out of it. It wasn’t always likely, but we did it, and I am glad we got to do a scene together,” Hart further said, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate with MacIntosh.
