My Hero Academia could have countless fans disappointed in how Kohei Horikoshi concluded the manga. There were so many things he could have explored. According to the fans, Deku should have found a way to regain One for All. My Hero Academia manga ran for a decade and gave the fans several memorable moments. But, like Hajime Isayama, his conclusion was not much appreciated.

The fans call him a loser for his inability to create a better character than Deku. His dependency on others led him to become one of the reasons why the ending was not up to the mark. Everyone had great expectations from the My Hero Academia finale, but all they had was a mid-tier ending.

Deku Is Not The Greatest Hero In My Hero Academia

Izuku Midoriya, popular as Deku, fulfilled his childhood dream of becoming the greatest hero in My Hero Academia. He defeated All for One and Tomura Shigaraki to put an end to the League of Villains. Even after that, many pointed out he might not be the ultimate hero everyone sees him to be. One of the fans summarised his journey and revealed how he had been a spoiled child since the manga’s inception.

The fan said that Deku never trained his body until he had All Might’s guidance. Even though he was born quirkless, he could have trained his body to become stronger physically and mentally. He showed signs of an aspiring hero trying to save a child from a running car, but it was not enough. Deku was not ready to walk an extra mile until he inherited One for All from All Might. After inheriting the quirk, he trained hard to gain control over it.

In the end, he sacrificed One for All to save humanity. With that, he went back to his former self. Since he did not have any quirk, he left being a hero. After his friends gifted him a battle suit to become a hero again, he was motivated to become a hero again. There are several examples where quirkless people dominated people with quirks.

After losing his quirk, Mirio Togata kept up with Overhaul for a few minutes. Even Hero-Killer Stain only used his physical and mental prowess to tackle Deku and Tenya Lida. So, the protagonist has every chance to make it as a hero, but he never works for it. Deku needed the desire to get stronger so that he could become the greatest hero. But Kohei Horikoshi designed him to be a spoiled child.

Izuku Midoriya’s life came to a full circle after he became quirkless and decided to guide the upcoming generation of Pro-Heroes. The ending was missing the proper Shonen touch that every manga of this genre had. Even the fans let out their frustration on social and wanted a sequel to happen. But after realizing how Deku never worked towards becoming a Pro-Hero, the fandom was quite vocal with their opinions.

My Hero Academia fans eagerly waited for the big announcement on August 5, 2024. They were hoping to be a sequel for Kohei Horikoshi to tie up the loose ends, especially Deku’s dad. But they were left disappointed once again after the announcement came out to be a poll that would be conducted for two months to determine the best character. It is fair to say that after much speculation, My Hero Academia has finally concluded.

My Hero Academia can be streamed on Crunchyroll, and the manga is available on Viz Media.
