In April 2012, the entire world was bedazzled with the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s The Avengers. It was the first time when Chris Evans’ Captain America and the rest of the Avengers joined forces in the MCU to take on a common foe.
At the time, the movie hit the ground running and made fans fall in love with the MCU. The journey ultimately concluded in 2019 with the release of Avengers: Endgame. Fans had to bid farewell to many iconic characters such as Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, and more.
While it has been more than four years since the release of the phenomenal film, fans are still aching for a potential return of the characters in Avengers: Secret Wars.

Chris Evans Opens Up on Potentially Returning as Steve Rogers For the MCU
Over the last few months, the rumor mill has suggested that Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, and the rest of the original six Avengers have agreed to return to the big screen.
In an interview with The View, Chris Evans was asked to share his thoughts on the rumors, and he was as shocked as every MCU fan out there.
You know, I always see those reports too, and it’s news to me. I think every couple months, someone says that they’re getting Downey, and Hemsworth, and Scarlet, and everyone’s coming back.

Evans essentially rendered the rumors baseless by claiming the same happens every few months. Evans is certainly not wrong, but can he blame fans for wanting the iconic cast back for one last time?
Sure, even if the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans agree to return to the MCU, fans will continue to demand for more from the actors. But it would indeed be great to see Evans as Steve Rogers urging the Avengers to assemble to defeat a formidable foe.
Playing Steve Rogers is Very Precious to Chris Evans
Chris Evans’ journey in the MCU began in 2011 with Captain America: The First Avenger. Following the immense success of the film, Evans appeared as Captain America in 11 MCU films over the course of nine years.
As far as his return is considered, Evans didn’t completely shut down the rumors. But he did mention that the role of Steve Rogers/Captain America is very precious to him in the same interview with The View.
No one’s spoken to me about it. And look, I would never say never, but I really, I’m very protective. It’s a very precious role to me, so it would have to be just right.
In some ways, this is great news for fans. After all, Evans didn’t bow out from potentially returning to the MCU in the future.
However, the veteran actor has just one request from the studio: They have to ensure that his return is done carefully so the essence of the character remains intact.
Will fans see the trio of Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., and Scarlett Johansson return for Avengers: Secret Wars? Only time will tell.
