Pattinson first became known for his portrayal of Cedric Diggory in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where he was held by fans as one of the most attractive actors in the franchise. Despite this, the actor was considered to be ugly for his role as Edward in the Twilight franchise, which fans just can’t seem to digest.

When the first Twilight movie was released, Robert Pattinson soon entered many of those ‘most handsome vampires on film’ lists thanks to his portrayal of Edward Cullen, and can still be found topping many of those lists. However, when Pattinson first auditioned for the franchise, the studio doubted his looks, apprehensive if he would ever be handsome enough for the role of a Vampire.

While conversing with Josh Horowitz on a recent appearance on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast to celebrate 15 years of Twilight’s release, director Catherine Hardwicke revealed,

“They called me back and go, ‘Do you think you can make this guy look good?’ I said, ‘Yeah, I do. Did you see his cheekbones? We’re doing a makeover on the hair and everything and he’s going to start working out and he’s going to be gorgeous.'”

This revelation was apparently too much for Pattinson’s fans, especially his DC fans, who soon took to social mdeia, blasting the franchise for even considering that he was not good looking.

When the first ever Twilight movie was released 15 years ago, it quickly garnered a huge fan following not only because it was based on an already famous novel series but also because the male lead’s looks were enough to draw viewers. Well, thankfully for the director’s insistence Robert Pattinson did end up playing Edward Cullen and that turned out to be his breakthrough role, and at the same time proving that he was in fact, more than handsome enough to play a Vampire.

The Twilight franchise can be streamed on Amazon Prime.
