Former kickboxer and controversial social media influencer Andrew Tate has prominently been in the news but not always for his athletic abilities. The former sportsman along with his brother Tristan Tate was arrested in Romania in December 2022 on charges of human trafficking, rape, and assault involving multiple women. The siblings allegedly coaxed women into their Bucharest Villa under the pretext of marriage or cohabitation and used violent means to make them perform pornographic acts. They were also helped by two female Romanian agents who were in cohorts with them.
The brothers were released on 31st March 2023 and sent to house arrest for 30 days. But the more significant coincidence about the date of their release is the ominous connection that it shares with the release of one of Hollywood’s cult films, The Matrix.
Andrew Tate Has An Eerie History With The Matrix
Kickboxer Andrew Tate, who was arrested along with his brother for human trafficking in Romania, was released and placed under house arrest on 31st March 2023. But the athlete’s comments regarding one of the biggest film franchises The Matrix have been making the rounds. Tate shared a cryptic tweet on the day of his arrest in December 2022 that read,
“The Matrix had sent their agents”
He subsequently made another reference to the sci-fi thriller when he was hospitalized in January 2023 and said,
“The Matrix has attacked me. But they misunderstand, you cannot kill an idea. Hard to Kill.”
While these comments have baffled even Andrew Tate’s lawyer who confessed that he was clueless about what exactly his client meant, many theories floating around indicate that he may be referring to the film’s message about the world being taken over by machines and humans beings simulated to become their pawn and puppets. Tate’s comments may signify that he considered himself a scapegoat in a larger system that manipulates people through artificial intelligence. This comment became even more significant with Tate’s release from prison which coincides exactly with the date of The Matrix’s release in 1999.

Despite these hateful slurs, Tate’s Tik Tok account which hosts videos of this nature gained millions of viewers reiterating the double standards of the platform whose objective is to ban the promotion of hateful ideologies on social media.
