Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp both are widely commended actors, greatly renowned for their remarkable on-screen works. But each has its own flaws, and while Jolie isn’t too good at tolerating things like bad breath while shooting a kissing scene with a co-star, Depp isn’t too good when it comes to maintaining good hygiene.

Though this didn’t pose much of a problem while they were away from each other, it did end up creating an embarrassing situation for the Edward Scissorhands actor as the Salt actress called him out on his dragon breath and asked him to rinse his mouth before they could proceed to shoot their kissing scenes in their only film together, The Tourist.

While both the A-listers have performed tremendously throughout their careers, they only got the chance to collaborate once for the big screen, and that one time was kind of a disaster as well. This goes back to when Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp were shooting for their 2010 romantic thriller, The Tourist.

In the film, Depp’s character, Frank, a foreigner in Italy, meets up with Jolie’s character, Elise, who uses him as a decoy to avoid dangerous mobsters as well as the police. During this action-packed adventurous journey, the pair end up in some steamy romance as well. That’s where the problem arose off-set.

As it turns out, due to his infamous habit of smoking, Johnny Depp was gifted with the curse of bad breath, and his stunning co-star Angelina Jolie couldn’t put up with it during their kissing scenes. Not being able to help herself, she ended up asking him to rinse his mouth with some mouthwash and even offered him some mints to top that before shooting their passionate scenes.

Thankfully for the Pirates of the Caribbean star, he probably did as he was told without minding much, considering how he immensely praised the Maleficent actress later on while promoting their film together.

Johnny Depp And Angelina Jolie Had Kind Words For Each Other Regardless

Surprisingly enough, Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp had never met before working together in The Tourist. Thus, they had kind words to share about each other in the interviews they were in to promote their film, despite the ‘bad breath’ incident on set.

Sharing how he felt after meeting her, the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory actor said during an interview (via YouTube):

“She’s kind of a walking poem, Angelina,” gushes Depp. “You know, she’s this perfect beauty. But at the same time, very deep, very smart, very quick, very clever, and very funny. She also has a very perverse sense of humor. Yeah, she’s great fun.”

Not only this but the Girl, Interrupted actress, too, had pretty nice words to say about Depp. She said (via YouTube):

“Johnny [Depp], I think he has always played very unique characters and I think he’s always, in pretty much every film he’s in, he’s likable. He is bringing a real charm to it.”

Thanks to their “innate chemistry”, the pair was able to get along pretty fine on-set and make their on-screen chemistry look all the more believable.
