Netflix has begun airing Henry Cavill’s final season as Geralt of Rivia. Before The Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth replaces him, the Superman actor will appear in one final batch of episodes of The Witcher season 3 as the White Wolf.
Although the news was somewhat shocking when it was first announced in late 2022, we still don’t know the precise reason Cavill left the Netflix series. While Cavill’s announcement of his departure from the series has angered fans all around the globe, the series’ cast seems to be looking forward to the future.
The Witcher stars’ thoughts on Liam Hemsworth replacing Henry Cavill
While fans will surely miss Henry Cavill from the series, certain cast members of The Witcher seem to have a positive mindset regarding Liam Hemsworth and the future of the character. MyAnna Buring, who plays a vital role in the series as Tissaia de Vries explained Dexerto,
“I’m really pragmatic about those things. I think when you have a fantastic character, the whole point of a fantastic character is that the baton gets passed on to other actors to play them.
She added,
“Henry’s done an incredible job of setting up Geralt. He’s there now in TV series form; the world has been able to enjoy him, embrace him, and now the baton is going to get passed on. That’s exciting.”
Even Therica Wilson who plays Sabrina Glevissig told the media that she, along with the other cast member is just happy to have worked with Cavill and hence “wish him the best”
Producers assure fans that the transition would be “flawless”
In a recent interview with Yahoo UK, executive producers Steve Gaub and Tomek Baginski discussed the impending transition from Henry Cavill to Liam Hemsworth. Fans were reassured by Gaub that the change will be “flawless” and be influenced by the works of Andrzej Sapkowski. Cavill’s portrayal of Geralt will come to a powerful and gratifying finish in the third season. Gaub said he’s confident Hemsworth will succeed in the role.
“We’re looking forward to the new explorations of Geralt with a new person behind it, a new actor, and a new face.”
According to Baginski, viewers who are familiar with the original work will be able to identify the events that led to Cavill’s departure. He thanked Cavill for his work and told the audience that the switch to Hemsworth will be smooth and “lore accurate.”
The main actor for the upcoming season is Liam Hemsworth, while other cast members include Anya Chalotra as Yennefer and Freya Allan as Ciri.
