Ant-Man 3 Undergoing Reshoots Just Weeks Before Release Convinces Fans There’s Something Wrong With the Movie

Ant-Man 3 Undergoing Reshoots Just Weeks Before Release Convinces Fans There's Something Wrong With the Movie

The threequel to the 2015 Marvel film, Ant-Man 3 is due next month. The film will hit off the next phase of the MCU and will introduce the next supervillain, Kang the Conqueror, of the MCU. While fans were not very impressed with Phase 4 of the cinematic universe, they are expecting better from Phase 5. And seems like Marvel Studios has already started working on things that require attention.

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which is the first film of the next phase, is going through some reshoots. Although not much information is available about these reshoots, fans are discussing how the studio must have planned these shoots to overcome some of the flaws in the movie.

Paul Rudd is Still Filming For Ant-Man 3

Ant-Man 3 would not be the first MCU film to undergo reshoots. Several films, including the 2015 film, Ant-Man and the sequel Ant-Man and the Wasp, went through reshoots and it has become an integral part of the studio’s filmmaking.

Evangeline Lilly, who portrays the Wasp, in the MCU has also said that Marvel Studios does not confirm anything “until it’s literally going to the theaters.” And some leaked photos have revealed that the filming for the threequel is still going on.

The film is just a few weeks away from its release and the reshoots have raised some doubts among fans. Some of these scenes seem similar to the scenes revealed during the film’s marketing. One of the images shows Paul Rudd outside the same donut shop as shown in Ant-Man 3’s trailer.

He is seen wearing the same clothes as he did in the trailer. Another photo shows him holding a box that seems to have Baskin-Robbins colors on it. The location seems similar to the one shown in the trailer of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.

While the reshoots don’t seem to have any VFX shots, considering that it is taking place just weeks before the official release of the film, it has raised some concern among fans. However, the reshoots seem to be happening for the film’s early sequences, which could have taken place due to some continuity error.

Fans Question Why the Studio is Reshooting Weeks Before the Release?

After the release of some of the images from the reshoot of the film, fans have started discussing how the reshoots can cause the run time of the film to increase even more. They also questioned why the studio is doing the reshoot just one month before the release of the film.

While some claimed that the studio is doing it in order to maximize profit, others are worried that it would lead the film on the same path as Thor: Love and Thunder.

Ant-Man 3 Expected to be the Longest Film in the Film Series

While the previous two films in the series did not cross the 2 hours mark, Ant-Man is expected to break the record by exceeding the time stamp. Considering that the film will set up the next phase of the MCU, and introduce the next supervillain in the franchise, it could lead the film to be longer than previous films in the series.

According to Fandango, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania will run for two hours and five minutes. The 2015 film was 1 hour and 57 minutes long and the 2018 sequel was 1 hour and 58 minutes long.

Although not many details are available about the plot of the threequel, director Peyton Reed has claimed that he sees the threequel as an Avengers-level movie. “For this third one, I said, ‘I don’t want to be the palate cleanser anymore. I want to be the big Avengers movie.'” Peyton Reed said.

He also shared that things happening in the upcoming film will change the MCU forever and he is excited that Scott Lang is the “center of that change.”

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania is set to release on February 17, 2023
