Coming off the heels of their so-far successful Archie Holiday Special, Archie Comics has revealed a new one-shot anthology book: Archie: Love and Heartbreak Special. It features the writing talents of Thomas Pitilli (artist, Riverdale: The Ties That Bind), Stephanie Cooke (OH MY GODS!), and Sina Grace (Jughead’s Time Police). It feature the art of Thomas Pitilli, Lisa Sterle (Variant Cover, Vampironica: New Blood #4),and Iolanda Zanfardino (A Thing Called Truth). Colors are by Matt Herms (Sonic the Hedgehog) and the lettering is done by classic Archie letterer Jack Morrelli.
The book features three unexpected pairings: “Veronica and Dilton”, “Kevin and Devon”, and “Betty and Jughead”. Jamie L. Rotante (Senior Director of Editorial) states that “Coming off the heels of our 80th anniversary, we wanted to welcome fans of the modern comics back to the romantic core of Riverdale with this special one-shot.” She further goes on to state that “Capturing the ideals of young love, readers get to experience firsthand the ups-and-downs of new relationships and what it means to discover yourself in a way we haven’t seen before in Archie comics. We hope readers see a little bit of themselves in each of these stories.” Archie: Love and Heartbreak Special releases February 9th for $3.99
