Are more PlayStation Studios Movies currently on the way? After the great movement of attention in movie theaters to superheroes, interest seems to have diminished in the general public. This makes room for new adaptations to enter the hearts of moviegoers, and video games seem to be looking at the opportunity. The world of video game adaptations continues to grow in the film industry, and continues to expand, and so a question arises: are we about to witness a rise of video game movies and series? And perhaps to answer that question, rumors are emerging indicating a possible increase in productions made by PlayStation Studios.

Are More PlayStation Studios Movies On the Way?
Video game adaptations may be the new movie wave in the coming years.

Fans eager to see their favorite games beyond console and PC platforms are hoping there will be more film productions coming on the horizon from PlayStation Studios Movies. Especially after the great success of other example films like, Super Mario Bros. and The Last of Us. For a long time, films and series that tried to bring video games to the screens seemed to be under a “curse” that did not allow these productions to be good. Much was “prophesied” about a chosen one that would be the game changer for these projects.

Jokes aside, in a way, this stigma was broken and not by a specific project, but gradually with the arrival of better-made productions, which caught the public’s attention and were a great success. Add to this scenario the fact that superhero movies are not doing very well with the fall in quality at Marvel and the revamp at DC, and that video game movies made a lot of money for shareholders. It is safe to say these investors will make sure PlayStation Studios Movies reach theaters and TVs more and more.

With that possibility becoming more and more plausible, fans journeyed to the opening animation for PlayStation Studios and hunted down every detail that could indicate new adaptations of their favorite games on the way. Indicated by Twitter/X user, realradec, it is possible to find in the video the legs of a character that looks very good to be Sir Daniel Fortesque, from the MediEvil series.

PlayStation Studios may have several cards up the sleeve when it comes to more cinematic adaptations
Fans are now excited after seeing MediEvil hints in the PlayStation Studios animation.

Also spotted was who appears to be the protagonist of Days Gone, Deacon St. John, behind Nathan Drake (Uncharted), Kratos (God of War) and Aloy (Horizon), all productions already confirmed with the studio. In addition, joining the mythological and robotic adventures, Ghosts of Tsushima was another production added in the “Coming Soon” section of the official PlayStation Studios website. A a film directed by Chad Stahelski (John Wick) is also still in development, although we cannot know exactly what will happen with these projects due to the writers’ and actors’ strikes currently happening.

Regarding the discoveries made by fans, it is true that a Days Gone movie had already been confirmed, but has not yet been made official by Sony. A production related to MediEvil is new, but still exciting because seeing the dark satirized style of the game on screens would not be bad at all.  Either as a stylized live-action or a great animation would be exactly what the franchise deserves.

To add to the speculation, Hollywood writing duo Ben Mekler and Chris Amick (Final Space) have interacted with rumors indicating that they might be involved, or that they would be interested, even if it’s just fans like us who want to see these projects coming true. The truth is that these productions may be on the way, taking into account the financial success of recent projects, which usually guarantee sequels and derivatives of these products. So, wait to see more of your favorite games turning into movies and/or shows in the future.
