Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls Castles is a brand new mobile game, released a few days back with no announcements or teasers, surprising the gaming community. The game is released to all Android devices with an iOS version yet to come out. The game, titled The Elder Scrolls Castles, can be an excellent companion for Elder Scrolls gamers and fans on the go.

Gamers who are familiar with another Bethesda spinoff, Fallout Shelter, should find the new mobile game from Bethesda quite similar. The two games aren’t quite identical to each other, but look quite similar thanks to the 2D, side-scrolling style.

Taking a huge inspiration from another Bethesda title, Fallout Shelter, The Elder Scrolls Castles is a 2D, cartoonish game that lets players take over a kingdom. The game had a quiet launch on Thursday, 28th September, made specifically for mobile devices.

Players take over a kingdom as soon as the game starts, as the only heir following the death of a King. The game also lets gamers choose their decisions which affects the player’s popularity among commoners, citizens, and family members. Characters also age over time, so rulers will continue to change over time. Another way a monarchy might switch hands is if the decisions taken by players continue to go against the likes of the citizens or family members.

To build a strong castle and improve combat, players will be required to send out people equipped with weapons and armor, on quests across Tamriel. These quests include combat that can get quite intense and involve special attacks as well.

Just like every other mobile game in recent times, The Elder Scrolls Castles players will need to spend actual money to buy “gems” which are used as a premium currency in-game. The in-game store, however, isn’t yet fully activated. The game itself isn’t available yet in many regions on Google’s Play Store. Once the game’s stable version is out globally, the in-game store is expected to be fully accessible to players.

Among the in-game purchases, the game features an Emperor Pass, which rewards players with extra gold or XP for levelling up quickly. Players can look forward to spending a lot of time perfecting their castle, building their weapons and armor, and taking on intense combats. Bethesda might still change a lot of things about the game, so until a stable version comes out, players might just have to wait.

Bethesda does have it’s hands full at the moment with more and more players getting their hands on the newly released, Starfield. The next big title from the studio might be The Elder Scrolls 6, which was announced along with Starfield, back in 2018. While Starfield is finally out on PC and Xbox Series S|X consoles, The Elder Scrolls 6 might still be a few years away.

Once a stable version of Bethesda’s The Elder Scrolls Castles is made available globally, the game should garner quite a lot of downloads and play hours.
