Everyone’s favorite controversial director is back at it again. His next project is the mix of two completely different genres – zombie horror and heist thriller. Zack Snyder‘s Army Of The Dead is one of the most anticipated Netflix movies that will premiere this year. The trailer for Army Of the dead is set to release later this month. But Snyder has already released a flurry of new images and details for the movie.
The first of the two stills released show us Dave Bautista‘s character Scott ward and his on-screen sister Kate Ward, played by Ella Purnella in the movie. The image appears to show the sibling duo discussing the plan for the heist.
The second image shows all the eight elite mercenaries that will take part in the heist. The mercenaries, in the image, are about to open the bank vault and rejoice in the spoils of the heist. The zombies are nowhere to be found and Zack Snyder intends to keep it that way. Although he did mention that the zombies in Army Of The Dead will be a mix of “Romero Style Slow-Walkers” and a completely new kind of zombie the audiences may have never seen before.
In his recent interview with EW, Snyder sat down to unveil his plans for his “full blown, balls-to-the-wall zombie heist movie.” Army Of The Dead will be rife with emotions, action, explosions, and tons of unique characters. He said and we quote:
“So you expect pure zombie mayhem, and you get that, 100 percent,” Snyder told EW. “But also you get these really amazing characters on a fantastic journey. It’s going to surprise people that there’s a lot of warmth and real emotion with these great characters.”
The synopsis for the movie is pretty straight-forward. An unknown viral-agent escaped the confines of Area 51 and has infected a large area of Las Vegas. The city, now over-run with zombies, has had been cordoned off by the US Government. But there’s a lot of extra cash in the vaults of the casinos that were left untouched. And that is what our mercenary heroes intend to loot. Led by Scott ward, this group of mercenaries will infiltrate a casino vault and steal the riches for themselves.
This Ocean’s 11 meets Dawn Of The Dead mash-up movie is yet to get a definite release date. Expect to watch Army Of The Dead in Fall 2021.
