When it comes to Hollywood’s fabled icon, Arnold Schwarzenegger, it’s nearly impossible to separate him from the realm of action, all guns blazing and ready to kick a*s. These thrilling ventures, the likes of which include perhaps some of the most celebrated action films like The Terminator and Predator, are what comprise his lengthy tenure in the industry after all, spanning over five decades.

FUBAR – Arnold Schwarzenegger’s First Small-Screen Outing

After decades of signing blockbuster films and nailing big-screen outings, the retired professional bodybuilder finally made his television debut with Nick Sanotra’s action-comedy series, FUBAR. Starring Arnold Schwarzenegger (Luke Brunner) along with Top Gun: Maverick‘s Monica Barbaro (Emma Brunner), the Netflix venture features a CIA operation that unfurls into familial chaos as a father and daughter unveil their identities as secret agents.

While the spy comedy’s reception seems to be lukewarm at best, some (to a certain extent) are pleasantly surprised by the comic role that the Commando star has taken on in the show. Throughout his acting career, Schwarzenegger, 75, has only ever been renowned for action films. There are only a handful of comedies like Twins and Kindergarten Cop that mark a significant deviation from his otherwise Terminator-esque routine.

So, FUBAR is certainly a change of air for not just Schwarzenegger, but for his audience as well. Perhaps more a welcoming one for the former than his fans, since he’s getting a handsome remuneration for the same.

How Much is the Action Icon Getting Paid for the Netflix Show?

FUBAR, which marks the politician’s first leading role in a small-screen television series, also happens to be one of his most lucrative projects. For playing the Brunner family’s head who doubles as a CIA operative, Schwarzenegger made a hefty $25 million, making him the highest-paid cast member in the entirety of the show, with Barbaro taking home the next best figure of $1.2 million.

Up until now, Schwarzenegger’s most profitable role has been Mr. Freeze in Joel Schumacher’s superhero debacle, Batman & Robin, for which the True Lies star got a bigger payday than Batman himself. Thanks to the 1997 film, he took home a gargantuan paycheck of $30 million.

The only other time that he came close to that level of financial success was Terminator 3, which left him with a little over $29 million plus 20% of the profits. However, that figure did dwindle to a lesser amount due to a mutual agreement preventing the relocation of the movie set.

FUBAR season 1 can be streamed on Netflix.
