The 75-year-old actor, Arnold Schwarzenegger became the citizens’ favorite by filling up a pothole in his neighborhood on a Los Angeles street however officials are not that pleased with his decision.

The actor shared a post on his social media that saw him shoveling the ground to fill what he thought was a pothole. Following the rainy season, it was quite difficult for maintenance crews to keep up with the demand for repairs. After he noticed that the hole was bothering other people in his neighborhood, he took action.

A spokesperson for the City of Los Angeles shared with NBC Los Angeles that the location which the former thought was a “pothole” turned out to be a service trench.

“It’s a service trench that relates to active, permitted work being performed at the location by SoCal Gas, who expects the work to be completed by the end of May.”

They continued,

“As is the case with similar projects impacting City streets, SoCal Gas will be required to repair the area once their work is completed.”

However, Los Angeles Times reported that the gas company has already “completed an upgrade on a pipeline” in January and applied for temporary paving over the excavation.

While paving is to be done within a month of the project’s completion, Los Angeles’ weather resulted in further delays. Though it was unclear whether the Terminator star was aware of the trench being due for repair or not, it became quite clear.

His spokesperson Daniel Ketchell shared that the Brentwood residents have been bothered by the hole. He further raised the concern by writing on Twitter,

“Then, the truth came out: the gas work was done in January (and the timeline for paving sped up).”

He further mentioned that the former governor of California is not taking this issue as a “political thing” as he just wanted to get “things done quickly.” While the officials addressed the first hole, the actor further highlighted that the second hole is yet to be addressed.
