Naturally, people are curious about his routine and the secrets that help him reach success. So, through his newsletter, Arnold’s Pump Club, the Terminator actor, shares daily health tips and advice for a healthy lifestyle. It’s in this forum that he openly revealed the secret in question. He stated,

“The best pre-workout might not be something you take right before you sleep. A good night’s sleep might be the best way to boost your performance. Not getting enough rest caused poor performance in skill acquisition and significant decreases in endurance, strength, power, and HIIT-style workouts. Those who slept less than 5 hours per night weighed an average of 5 pounds more than those who slept more than 7 hours per night.”

He disclosed that adequate sleep is a crucial element in maintaining a healthy lifestyle and enhancing performance. Rigorous workouts demand a lot from the body, making it somewhat compulsory to provide the necessary rest for optimal recovery. Adding to that, the actor also recommended that a morning workout session, following a restful night’s sleep, can work wonders.

Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Advice on How to Keep Both the Mind and the Body Healthy

In the newsletter, the actor also talked about safeguarding the brain from diseases. He strongly advocates for the equal importance of monitoring both physical and mental well-being. To maintain a balance, he recommends engaging the body in activities, asserting that keeping the body active can be an effective workout for the mind.

Workouts, according to him, serve not only to build muscles and sculpt the body but also to keep the mind fresh and shield it from diseases. He said,

“As you get older, you become more vulnerable to brain-related diseases, as well as breakdowns in memory and cognition. But, the time you spend in the gym could do much more than support muscle gain and fat loss. moderate-intensity exercise reduced the risk of Alzheimer’s by 15 percent, and high-intensity exercise led to a 44 percent reduction in risk. And “high-intensity” activities included lifting weights and running.”

He further explained by saying,

“More research is needed to determine exactly why exercise can reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s disease, but current theories suggest it has to do with increasing the blood flow to the brain, which offers various health benefits. Exercise is also associated with improvements in learning and memory, which might also help protect your brain.”

The actor then continued to discuss diets and how they often fail to deliver the expected results.

“I don’t believe in any of the fad diets. I’ve lived through low-fat, low-carb, and everything in between, and people just keep gaining weight. I see all the stuff people try to sell on the internet. It’s designed to be s-xy, cutting-edge, and grab your attention. And it does a great job at that — and a terrible job of delivering results.”

Thus, he himself curated diets that would help one according to their needs in The Official Pump Club Nutrition Guide. Thus, according to the actor, the right diet, ample sleep, and a well-structured workout schedule can significantly boost performance.
