Rickards and Amell played Felicity Smoak (Overwatch) and Oliver Queen (Green Arrow) on The CW’s Arrow from 2012 to 2020. The successful Arrowverse series led to spinoffs like The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, and Batwoman.
The trailer posted by Samuel Goldwyn Films introduces Rickards as the legendary sharpshooter Calamity Jane from the 19th century, with Amell sporting another interesting wig as Wild Bill Hickok—her love.
Similar to the final season of Arrow, Rickards’ character copes with the shocking death of Amell’s character. The film, directed by Terry Miles, also stars Priscilla Faia, Gage Marsh, Garrett Black, Christian Sloan, Troy Mundle, and Spencer Borgeson.
Various actresses have portrayed Calamity Jane, with Doris Day notably playing her in a 1953 Oscar-winning musical. Other actresses—Jean Arthur, Ellen Barkin, Angelica Huston, Catherine O’Hara, and Robin Weigert, have also taken on the role of this historical figure.
