Astro Bot is going to be an absolute blast for PlayStation fans. This title is probably the biggest one for Team Asobi. This development company first launched Astro Bot Rescue Mission in 2018 as an action platformer for PS4’s PSVR, where all the robot characters lived inside the DualShock 4 controller.

The upcoming title is exciting as well, as the company will incorporate iconic PS characters into the game. This game has recently been revealed in the latest State of Play event. However, there is one aspect of this game that is following the path of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 but not of God of War Ragnarok.

Astro Bot Is Coming Only to PlayStation 5

On September 6, Astrobot will be released to celebrate PlayStation’s 30th anniversary. But the thing is that this game will only be launched on PS5, not  PS4. The predecessor of this game, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, also followed the same formula in 2018, as it was launched only on PS4’s PSVR. However, as a VR game, it was quite understandable. But fans are a bit disappointed that this highly ambitious upcoming project is not coming to PS4.

Before the upcoming title, Team Asobi’s most recent project featuring the adorable robot was Astro’s Playroom, again on PS5. Although this game was pre-installed on every PS5, the upcoming installment is absolutely not going to be free.

This new Team Asobi title is right now following the footprints of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, which was also launched only for PS5. However, another hugely anticipated title, God of War Ragnarok, surfaced on both PS4 and PS5. Although, it was the first cross-gen release of the God of War franchise.

Astro Bot: The Gameplay

Astro Bot is going to be a full-fledged platformer with Sony-themed goodness. The game will feature cameos from 150 classic PlayStation characters like PaRappa the Rapper, Journey, and many more. This game will have 80 levels, assuring players a renewed experience every 10 minutes or so.

In a recent interview, this is what Nicolas Doucet of Team Asobi had to say about Astro Bot:

We wanted to make a big game. This is really about going up one notch—rreally several notches—aand having Astro’s big story. We call it Astro Bot because we treat this as a new beginning. That’s a really, really big game. I think for us, that’s the biggest game we’ve ever played.

The game is set in the background of an incident where Astro’s DualSense Spaceship will be torn apart (in the form of PlayStation gaming equipment) as every piece will be scattered across the universe. Now, this cute, tiny character will embark on a journey to find all the pieces.

Just like the previous games, Astro Bot will apparently feature 15 new abilities to use the full potential of the DuaSense controller on PS5.
