Dwayne Johnson was delighted to be a part of the DCU as Black Adam, a movie that was 15 years in the making. Sadly upon release, Dwayne Johnson’s dream project only managed to receive mixed reviews, from critics and fans who labeled the movie as “mediocre.” Ironically, Johnson’s debut would be the only time we have seen him as the anti-hero, as the actor was not part of James Gunn’s vision of DCU.
The film earned only $393 million which was disappointing, and many people believed that there were several reasons like poor script writing, and resemblance to other superheroes, moreover there was nothing new in the movie. The movie was forgotten but recently it resurfaced and fans are trolling the actor for winning an award with Black Adam.
Fans Troll Dwayne Johnson for Winning Kids’ Choice Awards for Black Adam
The Kids’ Choice Awards was hosted on 4th March 2023, and Dwayne Johnson won the Best Movie Actor for Black Adam at the program. Trolls immediately went to Twitter to mock the actor for his award and his failed attempt to change the hierarchy of power in DC.

A user tweeted how Dwayne Johnson has failed to deliver in the film and his attempt to change the hierarchy has made a bigger mess for James Gunn and Peter Safran.

Even though Black Adam failed to make a massive impact at the Box Office and failed to connect with adult viewers, it is safe to say that the People’s Champion’s performance was immensely loved by the kids, which made him a worthy winner of the award.
Why Did Black Adam Fail To Perform at the Box Office?
When Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam was announced, it was believed that the film would be a smash hit breaking Box Office records left right, and center, but when it was released it barely managed to recover the budget, the fans gave a plethora of reasons but the following were the most common.
Black Adam did not have any originality, and a lot of fans said that the film used moves and powers that were identical to other superheroes like Hulk, Superman, Flash, and Wolverine, and many fans believed that the actor chose certain scenes and aspects from other superhero movies. There were no new factors in the movie, and it even presented a slow-motion scene that was similar to Justice League, Eternium in the movie was similar to Kryptonite, and the anti-hero had a Drax-like personality.
While the film was not original, the poorly written script added to the problems of the movie as it was totally flat, and had video game-like dialogues such as “I kneel before no one.” “Fate does not make mistakes.” “Heroes don’t kill people,” and many more. Many fans trolled Dwayne Johnson investing so much in VFX and forgetting to pay the writers for a decent script.
One of the key reasons that massively affected the movie was that the movie industry was still recovering from the effects of the pandemic, and many people preferred watching movies on their televisions, mobiles, laptops, or tablets at their home rather than going out and watching films on the big screen. Since new films were released on OTT platforms and people didn’t have to pay extra to watch the films, they refrained to go out which affected the performance of Black Adam at the Box Office.
