The protagonist of Vinland Saga, Thorfinn

Thorfinn stumbles upon his best friend, Einar, during his years as a slave. This friend contributed significantly to influencing Thorfinn’s train of thought. Einar is a farmer from Northern England who was sold into slavery after his village was attacked. This resulted in deep hatred towards war and injustice in Einar’s heart. He conveys the pain common people feel to Thorfinn, which provides him with a crucial outlook on life.

The protagonist realizes how much pain his actions have caused others and starts repenting for his previous sins. Unlike Attack on Titan’s protagonist, Thorfinn is somebody who was truly changed and defined by his circumstances. His mind became so full of revenge that it prevented him from empathizing with other people’s pain and suffering.
