Hans Zimmer is an iconic film score composer with a plethora of movies to his credit. From movies like Interstellar to Pirates of the Caribbean, the composer has done it all. The Avengers composer Alan Silvestri, however, got the better of the deal when he was accidentally credited with the music of a certain Disney movie!
Despite Hans Zimmer creating the main themes of the movie, another composer, who has worked on several notable films such as The Avengers, Forrest Gump, and several others, was wrongfully credited with his name on several posters of the movie!

Well, back before Hans Zimmer and Klaus Badelt were attached to the 2003 movie Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Alan Silvestri was suggested for the movie. Although he was replaced by Klaus Badelt, several movie posters still showcased Silvestri as the composer of the music. The posters also credit only three writers for the movie while The Curse of the Black Pearl was written by Stuart Beattie, Ted Elliott, Terry Rossio, and Jay Wolpert (not shown).
On the other hand, another misunderstanding is that Hans Zimmer only worked on the score created by Klaus Badelt. As reported on IMDB, Zimmer created the main themes of the movie while Badelt worked on the rest of the score. The score was lauded by the world as the adventurous highs of the cellos and the gravitas of the bass added depth to the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Before director Gore Verbinski took over the project, he consulted with his dear friend Hans Zimmer about composing the music. Since the movie was based on pirates, Gore Verbinski revealed to Collider that Zimmer thought it was a terrible idea!
“I would say that Pirates1 had an energy to it, which was essentially, ‘you’re crazy’. I remember pitching it to [Hans] Zimmer and he said, ‘You’re mad! You’re making a pirate movie? Nobody’s going to see a pirate movie.’ It was resoundingly, ‘that’s the worst idea ever.’”
He further continued,
“And there was something exciting about that. It was so doomed to fail. You’re setting out to go make a genre that literally doesn’t work, or there’s so much historical proof that it will not work. So, you’re making everybody nervous. The studio’s nervous. Everybody’s nervous about Johnny Depp’s performance. Everybody’s nervous about the story.”
Well, the movie worked is an understatement as the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise went on to rake over $4.5 billion at the global box office! With an iconic theme from Hans Zimmer at hand, the franchise is available to stream on Disney+ in the U.S.
