Even though the game is receiving so much praise, there are some pieces of information that can stand out amongst the rest, which is helping it to receive even more reaction from players as they enjoy the lack of microtransactions in the game as Baldur’s Gate 3 developers state they will never allow them in their game.

Why doesn’t Baldur’s Gate 3 have microtransactions, and why is that a good thing?

Baldur's Gate 3 Is The Last Great Defender Against Microtransactions

For those who do not know what a microtransaction is, it is a feature which is more commonly used in games that give players access to things like character skins, item skins, and sometimes characters in general, with the only way to access these items is by using real-life money. This has been a popular staple by gaming developers over the past few years as this is an easy way for them to charge players extra money to gain something that may or may not be worth monetary value, but this has been a hated feature by gamers since they first made an appearance.

Even though microtransactions have been popular over the years, it was a major surprise to gamers that developer Larian would not be including any microtransactions in Baldur’s Gate 3 and had no plans to ever add them. This is due to the fact that Larian is its own company and isn’t reporting to a higher company, so to speak which is looking to make some extra money from gamers, so Larian was able to make the decision to keep microtransactions out of their game as they felt they weren’t needed.

Due to this, players are overjoyed that they are able to obtain every single item in the game without having to input any credit card information to get a simple sword or armour set that will be in the game. Since this has been announced, players are both shocked and happy, and the reason behind this is because many gamers fear that one day Baldur’s Gate 3 may get paid DLC, but this isn’t classed as a microtransaction so it may be possible to appear in the future, but is unlikely.

Baldur's Gate 3 Is The Last Great Defender Against Microtransactions

This helps to show that some developers still listen to what gamers want even in this day and age, and that is a good sign for future development as other developers will be able to see that you don’t need microtransactions to make a good game that players will enjoy.
