Emma Mackey was recently praised for her performance in the record-shattering movie Barbie directed by Greta Gerwig. And while she brings accolades with this movie, she is best known for her role as Maeve Wiley in Sex Education. She was outstanding there.
One of her co-stars from this popular series in an interview stated how she was like a dad on the set with whom all felt protected. Ncuti Gatwa, who plays the character Eric Effiong in Sex Education, said that being surrounded by her felt so protective.
Emma Mackey was the Dad of the Group
In an interview with Still Watching Netflix, the interviewer asked Ncuti Gatwa about his experience on the set of the famed Sex Education series. There he talked about Emma Mackey’s character, Maeve Wiley. He said:
“Maeve is just so bad-a*s. It’s quite empowering. Even Emma, as a person, whenever I stand beside her, I’m like who’s gonna touch me?“
He added:
“Which one of you lot are gonna touch me? None of you lot can touch me. I am with my muckie. I am with my girl right now.”
Gatwa’s performance in the show has made him a fan favorite and a rising star in the entertainment industry. However, it seems like he won’t be a part of the next installments if made. On February 8, the actor posted a farewell to the beloved character, thanking him for the lessons and memories.
On his Instagram Story, he shared the same photo with a caption, saying, “Goodbye forever baby boy. Thank you for all you taught me.”
Gatwa plays Eric Effiong in the hit series, Otis’ (Asa Butterfield) best friend in the series. Now, Gatwa will take over the role of the 15th Doctor in Doctor Who, which was announced last year.
