Is Robert Downey Jr Going To Win The Oscar For  Oppenheimer?

Robert Downey Jr has had quite a controversial past. Rising up and moving on with his head held high, the actor found worldwide fame when he starred in MCU’s Iron Man back in 2008. Following the fame and success that he found, Christopher Nolan soon picked him up to star in his magnum opus, Oppenheimer.

Portraying the role of Lewis Strauss in the movie, Downey Jr found critical acclaim for his role as the people were indeed very happy to see the actor once again. It wasn’t just his fame that made him famous in Oppenheimer but also what director Christopher Nolan thinks about him. In an interview, Nolan was left impressed with Robert Downey Jr when the director remarked that it was quite extraordinary to see Downey Jr achieve such greatness and yet, portray an almost minor role in a movie.

“It’s really cool to see somebody who’s achieved such greatness as a movie star then pivot completely and stretch themselves in a way that a lot of people haven’t seen him do.”

It seems that the Sherlock Holmes actor has indeed portrayed a far more varied character than his usual egoistic humourous movie roles. Ryan Gosling is not far behind in the race, however, as he too, has received great reviews for his performance in Barbie.

With Greta Gerwig’s masterful existential comedy in theaters, Ryan Gosling also found the spotlight with his role as Ken in Barbie. Portraying the character of, well, Ken the Doll, fans especially praised Gosling for his role in the movie. In an interview, director Greta Gerwig had nothing but praises for Ryan Gosling due to his commitment to the role.

“I had a kind of sense of how funny he was, how deeply funny he is, and how all of his comedy comes from just extreme commitment and grounded-ness, that it’s never standing outside of it and judging it, it’s always from the inside.”

It seems that both actors have received quite the praise from people around the world. Robert Downey Jr and Ryan Gosling have been nominated for 2 Oscars throughout their Hollywood careers but none of them has ever won one.

It seems highly likely that the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor will go to Robert Downey Jr for the serious role that he has done in Oppenheimer. After all, it is past time the actor received an Oscar for his contribution as the world hopes to see Robert Downey Jr accepting the Oscar with grace. Barbie and Oppenheimer are currently screening in theaters across the world.
