China Deemed the Game’s Sequel as a Threat And Banned in The Region Later

The story begins with Sergeant Henry “Black” Blackburn’s squad, dubbed Misfit 1, investigating an improvised explosive device (IED). Things take a turn when they are ambushed and then hit by a city-wide earthquake.

Users control four players during the campaign but control Blackburn for the better half of the story. Other operators include Sgt. Jonathan “Jono” Miller, Lt. Jennifer “Wedge” Colby Hawkins, and Dimitri “Dima” Mayakovsky.

It’s direct sequel, Battlefield 4, was released in 2013 and takes place after six years of its prequel. It too received positive reviews but was banned in China after the release of its DLC, China Rising.

The nation deemed it to be a threat to their security owing to the inclusion of four maps depicting regions of the Chinese mainland. Even with these games being banned in China, they still became popular around the world.
