Gears of War was a title that redefined Xbox’s status in the video game industry. The series and Halo were exclusive franchises that gained almost universal acclaim.

The series’ decline came with Judgement, the fourth game in the franchise, but the title also had OverRun, one of the most popular game modes in the series. Recently, a series fan proposed an idea on the game’s subreddit, which felt like an incredible crossover with another sci-fi IP.

A new storyline was introduced with Gears of War 4. While some fans were sad that the series isn’t following up on the Kait and J.D. storyline because E-Day is a prequel, they want the upcoming game to borrow a feature from Gears of War: Judgment.

As stated, one of the best things about Gears of War: Judgment was its OverRun mode. The game mode was enjoyable, making the title’s mediocre multiplayer mode a tad bearable. Keeping this in mind, a fan proposed the following on the game’s subreddit:

How would you feel about a bigger scale Overrun but with some vehicles and squad roles?

While the proposition was seemingly appreciated by the OP’s fellow community members on the subreddit, one particular comment drew an interesting parallel.

In theory, at least, the proposition provides an insight into how fantastic this proposed OverRun game mode could be. With every player playing a particular role and there being vehicles to engage in combat, this could very well be a game mode that fans love.

Reusing a Game Mode From One of the Worst Games in the Gears of War Series Could Backfire

The post made by the Redditor wasn’t even intended to be a rumor or a leak; it was just a shared random thought. Despite how strongly fans feel about Judgement and Gears 5, bringing over a game mode from those games could backfire too.

That is because fans would associate the upcoming prequel with some of the worst games in the series. Interestingly, this crossover between Star Wars Battlefront and Gears of War isn’t the only one proposed on the game’s subreddit.

A player had once proposed a battle between a locust army and the dwarves from Deep Rock Galactic, and asked how badly the latter would defeat the former.
