Rocket Raccoon is a computer-generated anthropomorphic trash panda that has an accent from Brooklyn. However, Bradley Cooper’s voice did justice to the character by integrating values and making it more than just a character to a star in The Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. But before Bradley Cooper came to the spotlight there were three more stars in the race for the voice-over of Rocket Racoon. Rocket Raccoon also has a friend named Groot whom he met while travelling the Galaxy and Groot is dubbed by none other than Vin Diesel.

Who Are The Actors That Were In Race For The Role Of Rocket Raccoon

Bradley Cooper currently acts as the voice of Rocket Raccoon and Sean Gunn as the onset Rocket Raccoon for The Guardians of The Galaxy franchise and they have been there for long. However, James Gunn took everyone by surprise when he announced Bradley Cooper as the voice artist for Rocket Raccoon at the end. But the 48-year-old Hollywood actor didn’t disappoint and did live up the expectations which made him the fan favourite.

Initially, there were many actors that were considered for dubbing the character of Rocket Raccoon before handing it to the Silver Linings Playbook actor. The actors were legendary Hollywood actors Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler, and Danny DeVito. Regarding the auditioning of Adam Sandler director James Gunn claimed according to TheDirect “This is not true. I’ve never even met Adam Sandler.” it all started due to a rumor that was circulated by Movies Now’s Official Twitter account.

Talking about Danny DeVito the director of Guardians of the Galaxy franchise did drop an exciting piece of information via live Q&A on his Facebook page.

“In all honesty, Danny DeVito is one of the voices we tried out. But Danny DeVito is an older man now, and Rocket is not an older man. He’s a younger man. And Danny DeVito‘s voice just wouldn’t work.”

Lastly, the Marvel casting directors also approached the legendary actor Jim Carrey, but he was too busy with his other roles, so it ended in decline just like what Jason Momoa did to the role of Drax. While the voice of Jim Carrey would have been different, we must agree that James Gunn did the right job by bagging in the fan-favorite Bradley Cooper.
