Sharon Stone and Arnold Schwarzenegger starred together in Total Recall. On the film set, the two actors allegedly hit it off. However, it seems that the Terminator actor had a very negative impression of the actress, based on rumours that circulated about the Basic Instinct alum.

The actress took it upon herself to tease the Predator alum, but they enjoyed working together. However, when told how Schwazenggar felt about her, the actress decided to talk about what she felt was the issue with that dichotomy.

Sharon Stone was very put together about how she understood people around her. She also understood when she had to put herself first. The actress received a comment, based on her reputation of being a nightmare on set. The actress said:

“Someone said one day, ‘You know, Arnold doesn’t like you. After thinking about that, I called this person and said, ‘Did anybody bother to wonder if I liked Arnold? Or does only his opinion count because he’s a big star?’”

Stone, while having a great relationship with Schwarzenegger while they worked together, was miffed at being judged by the star, based on rumours that were only partially true. It makes sense that Stone would feel a little irritated at the comment, especially given the industry’s attitude towards women at the time.

Sharon Stone explained her behaviour as insecure

Talking about how she was on set, Stone had quite a few explanations ready about her alleged behaviour. These were not excuses, but simple reasons why she behaved the way she did. The actress said:

“I could do nice, but it’s just not as much fun. Being nice isn’t my biggest goal in life. I’m trying to be honest about who I am and that’s not always nice. I’m not always the world’s cheerleader. On a movie, when an actress b****** about wardrobe, food, the director, the hours, the anything, it’s because we are insecure about our work. The more trained I get, the more secure I get in my work, the easier I am to get along with on the set.”

The idea behind her explanation is that since it is important to establish a reputation in the industry, it is important to make sure nothing hinders your performance. While difficult actors are often dropped from productions if they are too much of a hassle to keep around, directors also go to great lengths to accommodate actors who are good at what they do, and understand their craft. The better your performance, the better it is for your career, which then eases itself out as you establish yourself in the industry.
