Shazam! Fury of the Gods was expected to determine whether the superhero would have a future in the new DCU. While the lead star of the film Zachary Levi expected it to receive a positive reception, it does not seem to follow up with his hopes. The sequel had a terrible opening and received much lower ratings that its predecessor.

Shazam! Star Urge James Gunn to Continue the Franchise

Marta Milans, who portrays Billy’s foster mother, Rosa Vásquez, in Shazam! recently shared her thoughts about the superhero’s future in James Gunn’s DCU. In her recent interview with The Direct, Milans claimed that there is so much to the wizard’s story that is yet to be explored.

Although Milans mentioned that she understands why fans would consider not investing their time and money into the sequel, she also stated that people should give it a chance as it’s a great story. She also shared that there is a lot more to explore about the wizard family, Shazamily.

There is no doubt that there is still a lot left to be brought to the big screen about this character. But it’s unclear whether Zachary Levi would be able to do that as the DC superhero. Milans also offered a slight hint about what the threequel could have in store for DC fans.

Will there be a Batman Cameo in the Threequel?

Shazam! has been blessed with DC superhero cameos. The 2019 film had a Superman cameo, and the sequel featured Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman. Due to the Man of Steel star’s unavailability, fans were treated with a headless cameo of the Kryptonian superhero. David F. Sandberg shared that he feared something similar would follow up in the sequel when Gadot was unable to make it to the set.

However, it all worked out. And seems like the ideas about the next superhero cameo is already in discussion. While talking about the wizard’s future in the new DCU, Marta Milans said that she would love to see Billy alongside Batman.

“I personally would love to see Billy having a smoothie or a chocolate milkshake with Batman, and then Mama Rosa showing up and being like, ‘Hey, you guys, do you mind if I take the Batmobile for a spin?”

She said that the “warm and funny” nature of the film series has made it stand out among superhero films, and she would love to continue being associated with it. It is unclear who will be making a potential Batman cameo in the potential threequel. Would it be Ben Affleck after his The Flash cameo or someone else?

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is playing in theatres now.
