Bend Studio announced that Resistance: Retribution is now available to play on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 consoles via its official X/Twitter handle and also shared concept art for the re-release of the title. The game is the only third-person shooter in the popular franchise, and Bend developed the game along with original franchise creator Insomniac Games.

The game is a spin-off title and is set between Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2, two months after the events of Fall of Man, to be specific. The game introduced a new protagonist called James Grayson, who is a former British Marine. The story follows him as he sets out to destroy Chimeran conversion centers where humans are being converted into an alien species.

He soon discovers that the Chimera has evolved a new method of converting humans into chimera. The game received mostly positive reviews from fans and critics alike for its story and presentation. Its level designs, cover mechanics, and checkpoints have also been appreciated, but some elements were also criticized for being the same as in older titles in the franchise.

The game is only available to download digitally for players with PS Plus Premium and Extra subscriptions, but players will also be able to purchase it as a standalone title. Bend has announced that the game has “a shiny new PlayStation Trophy list” for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, just like other classics that have been released for PS4 and PS5.

Moreover, the game has also been enhanced with up-rendering and has received more features such as rewind, quick save, and custom video filters for an exciting and more smooth experience. The game also had 8-player online multiplayer with several modes such as Team Deathmatch, Capture the Flag, Containment, and Assimilation. However, it was later disabled and will not be available in the re-released version.

The game’s re-release has players buzzing, with many asking the developer for new Resistance games and remasters or remakes of the PSP game. The players also inquired if the Infected mode would be available to play in the game once they had completed the story.
